GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 72739
Balsa does not correctly handles cyryllic outgoing messages
Last modified: 2009-08-15 18:40:50 UTC
Settings: - 8-bit for outgoing messages is set in preference - KOI-8 fonts are set in font preferences - Language "Russian KOI-8" is selected in "Language" menu in mail composing window Bug: Compose window allows to type cyryllic characters, but once sent - recipient gets all cyryllic charactes as '?' signs. It looks like, Balsa ignores 8-bit settings option and language and cuts 8th bit. (But it sets the appropriate header however) However, any external KOI-8 8bit messages, sent to me from other people may be successfully read by Balsa. Example of the message, sent by Balsa, is attached below: -------- Return-Path: <dmitri@livotov.org> Received: from servant.livotov.org (servant.livotov.org [195.131.98.115] (may be forged)) by servant.livotov.org (8.11.6/8.11.3) with ESMTP id g1QN2tr20971 for <dll>; Wed, 27 Feb 2002 02:02:55 +0300 Date: Wed, 27 Feb 2002 02:02:55 +0300 From: Dmitri Livotov <dmitri@livotov.org> To: dll@servant.livotov.org Subject: Message-ID: <20020226230255.GA20907@servant.livotov.org> Reply-To: dmitri@livotov.org Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; format=flowed Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit X-Mailer: Balsa 1.3.2 Lines: 8 ???????? ???????? ????? ! Russian language test ----------------------- Dmitri L. Livotov dmitri@livotov.org http://www.livotov.org
Confirmed for Swedish characters: They also get replace by ? in outgoing mail.
Fix is in CVS. Thanks for the report!
