I think, shortcuts in the application overview is missing tooltips. 

There are many apps that uses similar or just same icons and have titles starting with same text. In the attachment, you may see shortcuts from popular "UFO: Alien Invasion" game. Normal and "safe mode" shortcuts are not recognizable in any way. 

There are extension that fixes this issue:

But it really has to be a default feature of gnome-shell.
