[Gapless] FLAC+MP3: player stops playing or is delayed when moving to new album
Last modified: 2020-03-17 09:53:48 UTC
when player is moving down playlist, it stops or is delayed for several minutes when it gets to a new album, either same or new artist. Once it jumped to the middle of the 2nd song when it resumed. I can click on the stopped file and it plays fine but will not play in order. Also the player skips a song if I use slide bar and move it too close to the end of a song. Sounds like this may be related to report # 664352 ( I searched). I can think of nothing about these files that may cause them to be skipped or stuck or started at some point into the the song. Plays song A, stops at song B or jumps to middle of song C after some delay, where song B is a different album than A. Song B plays fine on its own. It does not do it always, making it more maddening to duplicate. I see the song B title on the header but it just sits with counter at 0 then all of a sudden starts 17 seconds later, 17 seconds into the song B. Wish I could be of more help but am a total linux newbie and wasn't all that great with the other brand... Thanks, cfuss247
noticed it stops when it gets to a flac file. when i back up to song A, slide the bar to the end of song A then it will go on to song B about 10 seconds in. This is very annoying...

Created attachment 236836 [details] music file try to play this in banshee after playing an mp3 song. put it in a playlist with the mp3 first then our flac file. it does not continuously play , one after the other. thank you
1 player playing an mp3 file from album A. when it is over I want the player to go on to the next song on the playlist 2 when it gets to song B,a flac file, it stops playing. the song title is visible on the header and I can manually start song B but it won't go on by itself as you can tell, I'm not a computer guy, especially linux. I just got this installed 2 days ago. I am sorry for the poor format of my problem but it is the best I can do. If you can't tell what the problem is, then just forget it. Thanks again
Hi guys, I have decided to simply convert my flac files to mp3 so I will not have a problem. Keep working on it if you like but I can't wait and don't want a different player. Thanks anyways, C. Fuss
cfuss: are you able to play your FLAC files fine with other GStreamer-based player? (Like totem or rhythmbox)
(In reply to comment #6) > cfuss: are you able to play your FLAC files fine with other GStreamer-based > player? (Like totem or rhythmbox) yes. I did have gapless playback checked so I turned it off and it seems ok so far. I hope this works because converting these files is SLOW!!! Thanks
Banshee is not under active development anymore and had its last code changes more than three years ago. Its codebase has been archived. Closing this report as WONTFIX as part of Bugzilla Housekeeping to reflect reality. Please feel free to reopen this ticket (or rather transfer the project to GNOME Gitlab, as GNOME Bugzilla is being shut down) if anyone takes the responsibility for active development again.
