Description dgt224 2012-05-07 18:16:32 UTC
It is not at all obvious from the interface design that the font picker overlaid on the image near an active text tool cannot be used to select the initial font for the text tool or to switch to a new font for text about to be entered.

Since the active font is always switched to that of the preceding character (or to the default font for the active text tool) when the keyboard or mouse is used to move focus from the font switcher to the text in the text tool, a font selection in the font picker is meaningful only if the font selection is made while text is selected in the text tool.

Steps to Reproduce: Open a text tool and type some text. In the font picker for that text tool, select a new font. Use the Tab key or the mouse to move focus from the font picker back into the text tool.

Actual Results: The font indicated in the font picker reverts to that for the character preceding the insertion point.

Expected Results: The newly selected font should remain active for newly entered text. Alternatively, the font picker should be disabled (or hidden, but that would be less desirable) when no text is selected.
