Description Julian 2011-12-19 14:16:10 UTC
Good morning,

problems that help the gnome shell .. to freaking out with him! = /

Today I started my system and upgraded my packages and repositories (update, upgrade)

from there I open firefox the shortcut ALT + F2 and type in firefo when he says 'command not found' it started today, yesterday my system was normal.

3 This gnome every day to amaze me, I looked on google and the only thing I found was to enable the shortcut, the shortcut works but here, the command so that it does not

ps. only I can access my files - EX. ~ / (Nautilus) / storage
Now w / open programs - EX. firefox, transmission, pidgin etc. .. nothing

Video of the error:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cmeaxjt_8zw&feature=youtu.be
Comment 1 André Klapper 2011-12-19 14:35:24 UTC
Don't know if you have Firefox installed from that video.
What happens if you press Alt+F2, enter "gedit", and press the Enter key?
Which distro is this about?
What are your path settings?
How did you upgrade/update?
If you start a terminal window and enter "firefox" and press the Enter key, does it work?
Comment 2 Julian 2011-12-19 14:43:28 UTC
use debian 7 testing

firefox is installed correctly,'ve checked the $ PATH ok, when I type ALT + F2
and put '~ /' or / home / User it opens normally, what happens is that with programs, look at the video:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cmeaxjt_8zw&feature=youtu.be

the terminal if I type in firefox, open standard, only the shortcut to run is that I can not open programs, or with full path "/ usr / bin / firefox 'that occurs with all programs (transmission, firefox, pidgin, skype etc.. .)

much use the shortcut, was working normally do not know what happened ..
Comment 3 Julian 2011-12-19 16:45:51 UTC
someone please

Anything interesting in ~/.xsession-errors?

there is no such folder
Comment 6 Frederic Peters 2011-12-19 17:16:11 UTC
Julian, what's your version of gir1.2-glib-2.0?

Also, could you edit /usr/share/gnome-shell/js/misc/util.js, find the trySpawnCommandLine function, and comment the "err.message = ..." line? This should give out the original error message.
Comment 7 Julian 2011-12-19 17:54:36 UTC
gir1.2-glib-2.0 - version installed = 1.31.0-2

I comment that line here?

function trySpawnCommandLine(command_line) {
    let success, argc, argv;

    try {
        [success, argc, argv] = GLib.shell_parse_argv(command_line);
    } catch (err) {
        // Replace "Error invoking GLib.shell_parse_argv: " with
        // something nicer
        err.message = err.message.replace(/[^:]*: /, _("Could not parse command:") + "\n");
        throw err;
    }

I like that her whole comment here?

####err.message = err.message.replace(/[^:]*: /, _("Could not parse

}

and this last bracket?
Comment 10 Frederic Peters 2011-12-21 08:36:10 UTC
In the source file the line should be a single line, you comment it by prefixing it with //

Comment 12 André Klapper 2011-12-21 10:52:00 UTC

Comment 13 Julian 2011-12-21 10:54:48 UTC

'command not found'
Comment 14 Julian 2011-12-21 15:18:58 UTC

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/dash/+bug/878880

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity-2d/+bug/919320

Problem still exists in Ubuntu 12.04 precise beta as of now.
Comment 16 Bakyt Niyazov 2012-02-19 13:13:19 UTC
Before upgrading to 12.04 Beta I was using Oneiric and everything was great.

now I have this issue.

If you need more info let me know.

This is happening not only with Alt+F2 but with Unity's Dash (when using Winkey and typing any application name and trying to launch it)

So that's not a bug in GNOME. Please file a bug in Launchpad.

Description-en: graphical shell for the GNOME desktop
 The GNOME Shell redefines user interactions with the GNOME desktop.
 In particular, it offers new paradigms for launching applications,
 accessing documents, and organizing open windows in GNOME. Later, it
 will introduce a new applets eco-system and offer new solutions for
 other desktop features, such as notifications and contacts
 management. The GNOME Shell is intended to replace functions handled
 by the GNOME Panel and by the window manager in previous versions of
 GNOME. The GNOME Shell has rich visual effects enabled by new
 graphical technologies.
