Description zeroonemania 2001-12-08 02:44:21 UTC
Package: bug-buddy
Severity: critical
Version: 1.4.0.4
Synopsis: Application "panel" crashed
Bugzilla-Product: bug-buddy
Bugzilla-Component: general

Description:
I am having problem with Red Hat Linux 7.2.
I recently installed linux for the first time.
It worked fine for a week or so then it started giving
me problems.

First, I become unable to get xwindows at startup.
I get command line first, I have to type startx then GNOME
is started, I dont know how can I get KDE.

When I type startx the first error message I receive is as follows:
"Could not look up internet address for ool-18b8592f.
This will prevent GNOME from operating correctly.
It may possible to correct the problem by adding
     ool-18b8592f to the file /etc/hosts."

I tried to type ool-18b8592f in /etc/hosts but nothing happened.

Today, I got another error, and now I am unable to see task bar
at all i.e when I type startx on comman line first I get error one
mentioned above then I get following error:

Application "panel" (process 1396) has crashed due to
    a fatal error.
    (Segmentation fault)

Could you help me, what should I do?

Thanks in advance

Abdul Ghaffar

Please try the latest gnome-libs and gnome-core packages available
from http://download.gnome.org/

These have fixes for many crashes and other bugs in both packages.
