Description Justin Lebar 2011-10-18 20:29:50 UTC
The banshee UI occasionally stops responding while playing music, using ~337% CPU.

This has happened to me twice now, since upgrading to Ubuntu 11.10 (Banshee 2.20). I can kill banshee with |kill|; I don't need to use |kill -9|.

Next time it happens, I'll try to capture the log with

  kill -s QUIT $(pidof banshee); cp ~/.config/banshee-1/log ~/Desktop/banshee.log

Please let me know if there's anything else I can do to help figure this out.

Thanks for your bug report.

Can you tell if the problem goes away when disabling the UbuntuMusicStore extension?
Comment 2 Justin Lebar 2011-10-18 21:56:49 UTC
I just disabled it.

The hang is happening only once every few days for me, so I'll report back in about a week if I haven't seen the hang.
Comment 3 Justin Lebar 2011-10-24 17:30:15 UTC
Seems to be working fine now that I disabled that extension.

I guess we need to close this and file a Ubuntu bug?
Comment 4 Andrés G. Aragoneses (IRC: knocte) 2011-10-24 17:35:15 UTC
Thanks, then it's likely that this is a duplicate of bug 660818, which has already an ubuntu ticket open (865697).

I apparently spoke too soon; it just hung again, this time with the Ubuntu plugin disabled. Music continues to play, but the UI is frozen. See the log I just attached.

Sounds like bug #659841
Comment 8 Andrés G. Aragoneses (IRC: knocte) 2011-10-25 14:32:39 UTC
Certainly, thanks Iain.

BTW it's likely that bug 659841 is fixed if you update gconf to v3.2.1.
