I haven't looked whether this bug is happening because of something in Empathy, Gabble or Mission Control, however...

I set my alias for my XMPP account in the Personal Details dialog. This sticks around for a while, but then gets unset back to my JID. I suspect it gets unset between disconnect/reconnects.

I haven't done any debugging to work out if Empathy is calling SetAlias() or Set() on Account.Nickname or this is something coming from Gabble or Mission Control (the Nickname parameter is set back to my JID). So I'm filing this bug in Empathy as the starting point.

I'm going to assume that's bug #631730. Some debugging would be appreciated. :)
