Description preineke 2010-05-25 13:56:58 UTC
For some emails, when I select them and press ctrl-y, I get the "Error while Filtering Selected Message. Cannot append message to mbox file: /home/peter/.evolution/mail/local/Listen.sbd/Aktive Piraten: Success"
I haven't found a definitive rule on how to reproduce it, but the cases I could isolate did involve umlauts.

I also encountered this maybe related bug: https://bugs.launchpad.net/evolution/+bug/585375

Maybe it is not related to umlauts. I found other occasions where the subject does not involve umlauts.
But there are a lot of failures including emails with an attachment called "1.eml". This seems some specific format to send emails, which I don't know how to reproduce.

Just check in case your destination folder has exceeded 2GB, i meant size of mbox for particular folder. Evolution doesn't append messages if folder size has exceeded beyond 2GB.
Comment 3 preineke 2010-05-26 13:53:18 UTC
My ~/.evolution is only 158MB in total, including sub directories.
Also most mails will be appended without problems, only few mails result in an error.
Comment 4 preineke 2010-05-26 14:09:01 UTC
I just tried to move the mail manually into the folder, and I get the maybe more helpful error message:

"Error while Moving messages into folder Listen/Aktive Piraten.

Cannot append message to mbox file: /home/peter/.evolution/mail/local/Listen.sbd/Aktive Piraten: No such file or directory"

However the file exists. Probably it isn't really a bug in the filter.
Comment 5 André Klapper 2010-05-26 22:10:15 UTC
I wonder if the whitespace in the folder name is an issue...
Comment 6 preineke 2010-05-26 22:22:18 UTC
I don't think so. I get the same with one word-folders:

"Error while Moving messages into folder Listen/LLVM.

Cannot append message to mbox file: /home/peter/.evolution/mail/local/Listen.sbd/LLVM: No such file or directory"

If it happens I cannot move the specific email in _any_ folder. I think it depends on the email, whether the bug occurs or not.
Comment 7 preineke 2010-06-07 16:24:57 UTC
I think the problem is just an effect of this more basic problem:

Hi preineke,
if you have time, could you please check again whether this issue still happens in Evolution 3.2.3 or 3.0.3 and update this report by adding a comment and changing the "Version" field and provide information about your distribution? Thanks a lot.
Comment 9 preineke 2012-02-27 21:13:07 UTC
Sorry, I made the switch to Thunderbird two years ago, and I don't use Evolution anymore. You can find information about my distro and the version of Evolution I used back then in my first post.
