It looks like this was fixed by "Thomas Hindoe Paaboel Andersen" and committed by "Cosimo Cecchi".

Was fixed by bug 573292, didn't know/forgot about this one here.

Also see bug 612485 which also has some GtkSpinner side-effect fixes.
