GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 601158
Desktop icons that are symlinks cannot be user-aligned
Last modified: 2011-04-04 01:35:04 UTC
On my desktop symlinks to folders or files recently stopped to stay aligned on positions that I want them to be. After a re-login or even F5 keypress they get aligned in a more or less random-reverse-alphabet way. This is very annoying as it's impossible to keep the desktop organized. Please fix this asap.
I can confirm this bug on my system after a clean install of Ubuntu 9.10 amd64 (Gnome v 2.28.1). Worked fine in Ubuntu 9.04. Mounted drive icons and directories created in ~/Desktop stay where they're put, its just symlinks that don't work. This bug has also been reported here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/476400 Many thanks.
