GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 596300
History should remember scroll position also
Last modified: 2015-10-16 18:59:28 UTC
The history (back) button always resume at the top of the page, even if the hyperlink clicked was at the bottom. So the view will not look the same as it did earlier, which can be a little confusing. What if the history could save not only page number, but also the scroll position within that page? For simplicity, it could be assumed that the window dimensions and zoom level have not changed, and so it would be enough to record the adjustment value of the scrollbar.
I second this request. This behaviour could be made optional as it was in xdvi, were the key 'k' (for 'keep') made Pgup and PgDown buttons to keep position of horizontal AND vertical scroll bar unchanged. This should affect only the vertical scrollbar position since the invariance of the horizontal scroll bar should be the default behaviour, as asked in this bug report https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=581144 Beppe P.S. I'm willing to program this option is someone points me out where to start from
Ahem... how do you do that? I mean, where you found "history" in evince? I'm struggling for a browser-"back"-like button in evince while reading large PDF files, and now... look, somebody thinks it's there already? Where?! P.S. Just in case, the "Back" button just moves one page up, no matter how I opened the page - via a link, via a page go, whatever.
It is there, just right click in the toolbar to add the buttons
Whoa, that was magic! I'll go tell my friends too, they also weren't able to figure out it as well :)
Filed a bug that this function should always be available at the top menubar.
I am willing to resolve this bug/do a feature enhancements. Can someone guide me how to proceed further.
