Please describe the problem:
A certain file causes an error message upon opening a file.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Get pdf http://www.adrift.org.uk/ftp//Manual.pdf from http://www.adrift.org.uk/cgi/new/adrift.cgi
2. Open it from the command line
3. Look at the terminal window


Actual results:
An error message floods the terminal window.

Expected results:
No error messages to flood the terminal window.

Does this happen every time?
Yes.
