Description Markus Sauermann 2008-08-10 13:11:25 UTC
Steps to Reproduce:
1) Create a split-transaction that affects at least 3 different accounts
2) Generate a general ledger report
3) Adjust the properties of the report to use the display style "Multi-Line" and activate the option "Other Account Name".

Actual Results:
Each line of the split transaction contains the text "Split" in the column "Transfer from/to".

Expected Results:
Each line of the split transaction should contain the name of the according account instead of "Split" in the column "Transfer from/to".
This should make the general ledger report more useful, beacause at the moment one has to guess the names of the other accounts.

Thanks for taking the time to report this.

Note however that the steps described above are illustrating the wrong way to use the report. In "Multi-line" style the "Other Account Name" option no longer makes sense. In this situation the "Account Name" option should be used instead to get the report you are looking for.

I'm aware this is very confusing and you're not the first to run into this. As a consequence I recently changed the layout and behaviour of the report options such that:
1. The "Style" option is now under the "Display tab", and named "Detail level"
2. If "Multi-line" is selected, the "Other Account Name" option can't be activated any more.

This will appear first in gnucash 2.8.0, for which the final release date is not yet known. Until that time, you are encouraged to follow the recommendations I gave above to get the report you are looking for. Thank you.

This particular bug has already been reported into our bug tracking system, but we are happy to tell you that the problem has already been fixed in the code repository.
