GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 518045
Cant extract into initial folder
Last modified: 2009-08-20 08:07:51 UTC
Steps to Reproduce: 1) Open an archive. 2) Select a file or folder inside it which you want to extract 3) Click extract (The file-selector shows up, and you are inside of some initial directory, lets say ~/Desktop) 4) Click extract 5) Nothing happens 6) You then need to go one level up to the parent directory, select Desktop and THEN you will be able to extract into that folder. Expected Results: 5) Files extracted into the initial folder without further hassle. Version tested: file-roller-2.20.3-1.fc8 but IIRC this also happens with the latest Ubuntu package. If this is a feature, and not a bug, then its a stupid feature. :-)
not a feature I have this too. Opening a compressed file directly selecting the "Extract" in the Folder selection dialog won't decompress. Selecting the directory tab on top and "Extract" still fails. Selection a folder in the right pane ( Name Modified ) then the tab on top then "Extract" works.
This is actually a bug in GtkFileChooser: #398117
