To repeat:
Save messages so there is a queue.
Close pan.
umount the disk drive that has the place where the messages were saved on.
Open pan.
Downloads continue to ~/.pan2/article-cache/ without alerting the user.

Some notification would be nice and a method for putting the messages in the places they were originally destined for once they are available to be written to.
