GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 470234
Doesn't format fresh dvd+rw before burning
Last modified: 2008-06-13 18:35:47 UTC
[ From http://bugs.debian.org/439296 by Brent S. Elmer, Ph.D.] "Brasero should handle a fresh dvd+rw when burning. When you click on burn, brasero says there are 0 bytes empty on a brand new dvd+rw disk. It should format the disk and then burn. If I manually format the dvd using dvd+rw-format, then brasero will say the disk size is not 0."
which backend is being used ?
The Debian package is patched to use cdrkit.
Ok i can reproduce this problem.

What is the status of this BUG? The last post says to see 493776 which isn't really related. Brasero should be able to burn a brand new empty DVD+RW.
Sorry for taking so long to answer. I just fixed that problem. The problem here is that Wodim is not able to handle maiden DVD+RWs whereas the manual states it should so I guess that's a bug mainly in wodim. Anyway I made a workaround for this but I'll make sure libburn, growisofs, cdrecord are used before we tried wodim now. The problem now is that if wodim is used to record DVD+RW it'll take ages to format and I can't do anything about this.
