Description Thilo 2007-08-19 19:10:37 UTC
I know Epiphany is simple but I have found that people have trouble guessing how to search (which seems to be = how to google nowadays). So I suggest to make it more obvious some how. Possible solutions:

* By default write "Enter your search here" in grayed out words in the address bar, that disapear when people enter text.

* Have some kind of definable logo - maybe a distribution likes to put the Google Logo there. Which could also be just the logo of the default search engine.

* Maybe give the user some hints on first start of Epiphany (thats only useful for new desktop users)

* etc. etc.

So maybe you core developers have a better idea what solution would solve the problem best but its one of the few issues I think Epiphany has from my observation for the simple user. Once people know Epiphany I guess they do not need more hints. But if you let people use your browser instance you will have to teach them the non-obvious, still.

Maybe somebody should take a second look at this bug and either dump that idea or confirm?
Comment 2 Reinout van Schouwen 2008-09-03 08:15:11 UTC
The first two points are good suggestions that warrant further discussion, I'm not sure about the third. People will probably just click away first time run-messages without reading.

Shouldn't this bug either be confirmed or closed?

Status is NEW, that means it's confirmed.
