Items that do not have an icon could get a generic one.

Good idea! What will it take to do this? I will upgrade priority and milestone
if we get some kind of estimate.

------- Additional Comments From sullivan@eazel.com 2000-12-19 07:22:52 ----

Putting generic icons in each menu item is easy. Getting a correct specific
icon might be relatively easy, or extremely difficult. I don't know what kind
of mechanism exists for this right now.

------- Additional Comments From sullivan@eazel.com 2001-03-09 17:43:11 ----

There's two potential sources of icons -- the icon for the application binary
file itself (the one you'd see in Nautilus if you navigated to the right
directory), or the icon that the application supplies for use in the task list.
The latter is more interesting. Actually, using the latter in Nautilus might be
a good thing to do. Maybe we should use the latter if it exists, and fall back
to the former otherwise?

I think doing this right would involve using the application icon pretty much
anywhere we show the name, which is at least: the Open With menu, the Open With
Other... dialog, and the sidebar.

Doh! I added a patch for the wrong bug. Bugzilla confused me. Ignore the
attachment (I wish there were a way to remove it!)

Changing to "old" target milestone for all bugs laying around with no milestone set.

This seems extremely useful. Also from a usability perspective.
