GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 430817
crash in Tasks: Updated settings for IMA...
Last modified: 2007-10-15 10:14:20 UTC
What were you doing when the application crashed? Updated settings for IMAP mail account via "Edit" button under "Mail Accounts" * Changed IMAP and SMTP from security NONE to TLS * Added PGP/GPG ID to Security tab Then I clicked "Save" from the edit mail account window & it crashed. Distribution: Fedora release 6.92 (Rawhide) Gnome Release: 2.18.0 2007-03-23 (Red Hat, Inc) BugBuddy Version: 2.18.0 System: Linux 2.6.20-1.3062.fc7 #1 SMP Thu Apr 12 17:41:54 EDT 2007 x86_64 X Vendor: The X.Org Foundation X Vendor Release: 10299905 Selinux: No Accessibility: Disabled GTK+ Theme: Clearlooks Icon Theme: Echo Memory status: size: 855339008 vsize: 855339008 resident: 84291584 share: 22446080 rss: 84291584 rss_rlim: 18446744073709551615 CPU usage: start_time: 1176844823 rtime: 2242 utime: 1612 stime: 630 cutime:0 cstime: 1 timeout: 0 it_real_value: 0 frequency: 100 Backtrace was generated from '/usr/bin/evolution' (no debugging symbols found) Using host libthread_db library "/lib64/libthread_db.so.1". Thanks for taking the time to report this bug. Unfortunately, that stack trace is missing some elements that will help a lot to solve the problem, so it will be hard for the developers to fix that crash. Can you get us a stack trace with debugging symbols? Please see http://live.gnome.org/GettingTraces for more information on how to do so. Thanks in advance!
Closing this bug report as no further information has been provided. Please feel free to reopen this bug if you can provide the information asked for. Thanks!

I installed the debug packages for this, and recreated the crash. I cut and paste the bug buddy information in here: Distribution: Fedora release 7 (Moonshine) Gnome Release: 2.18.3 2007-07-02 (Red Hat, Inc) BugBuddy Version: 2.18.0 System: Linux 2.6.22.1-33.fc7 #1 SMP Mon Jul 23 16:59:15 EDT 2007 x86_64 X Vendor: The X.Org Foundation X Vendor Release: 10300000 Selinux: Enforcing Accessibility: Disabled GTK+ Theme: Clearlooks Icon Theme: Fedora Memory status: size: 632504320 vsize: 632504320 resident: 59899904 share: 35037184 rss: 59899904 rss_rlim: 18446744073709551615 CPU usage: start_time: 1185914213 rtime: 341 utime: 302 stime: 39 cutime:2 cstime: 6 timeout: 0 it_real_value: 0 frequency: 100 Backtrace was generated from '/usr/bin/evolution' Using host libthread_db library "/lib64/libthread_db.so.1". Can you reproduce this while running Evolution under gdb? See http://live.gnome.org/GettingTraces/Details#gdb-not-yet-running for details how to do this. Also, can you double-check that you've installed the debug package for glib2? Thanks!
Okay, I installed the glib2 debuginfo package, and recreated the crash from gdb, but I didn't get a back trace. Here is what I got: ***MEMORY-ERROR***: evolution[31228]: GSlice: assertion failed: sinfo->n_allocated > 0 Program exited with code 01. (gdb) thread apply all bt (gdb) I also now don't get a bug buddy pop-up when it crashes, but it crashes every time. Sometimes I have to wait 30 seconds, but most of the time it is immediate.
Okay, I crashed it again, and the bug buddy did pop up this time: Here it is: Distribution: Fedora release 7 (Moonshine) Gnome Release: 2.18.3 2007-07-02 (Red Hat, Inc) BugBuddy Version: 2.18.0 System: Linux 2.6.22.1-33.fc7 #1 SMP Mon Jul 23 16:59:15 EDT 2007 x86_64 X Vendor: The X.Org Foundation X Vendor Release: 10300000 Selinux: Enforcing Accessibility: Disabled GTK+ Theme: Clearlooks Icon Theme: Fedora Memory status: size: 630480896 vsize: 630480896 resident: 56819712 share: 34881536 rss: 56819712 rss_rlim: 18446744073709551615 CPU usage: start_time: 1185916897 rtime: 203 utime: 176 stime: 27 cutime:3 cstime: 13 timeout: 0 it_real_value: 0 frequency: 100 Backtrace was generated from '/usr/bin/evolution' Using host libthread_db library "/lib64/libthread_db.so.1".
