I would like GNOME to be more functionally useful, this would help.

I already use several GNOME Terminals, some of which have multiple tabs, and also have multiple virtual desktops.  It would be very useful to have the same tab functionality of the GNOME Terminal (and Firefox!) in a directory viewer.
