Thanks for taking the time to report this bug. Unfortunately, that stack trace is missing some elements that will help a lot to solve the problem, so it will be hard for the developers to fix that crash. Can you get us a stack trace with debugging symbols? Please see http://live.gnome.org/GettingTraces for more information on how to do so. Thanks in advance! please install gnome-vfs and dbus packages

Everybody, thanks for taking the time to report this bug. Can anybody please get us a stack trace with debugging symbols? Please see http://live.gnome.org/GettingTraces for more information on how to do so. Please install gnome-vfs and dbus packages. Thanks a lot in advance for helping the developers to fix this issue! 30 duplicates in 20 days => Gnome 2.16.x blocker.
Note: This bug has been added to the auto-stacktrace-reject list. This is a counter measure, to stop the flood. However, please note that this effectively means there will be no new duplicates, which limits the ability to ask for more info and better traces. If you do need this, feel free to contact me directly. No new duplicates does *not* mean this bug to be magically fixed. Confirming for obvious reasons. Priority urgent, Severity blocker. Since this bug has been in NEEDINFO state: Due to the enormous workload such duplicate magnets are to the bugsquad, these bugs should stay on the reject list. However, I can easily respond to each new (rejected) duplicate with a custom mail, asking for a better stacktrace, if need be.

Are gnome-vfs developers aware of this bug? As far as I remember, gnome-vfs development discussion takes place mostly in the gnome-vfs-list.
From bug 374295, the dbus assert output is: 2729: assertion failed "message->refcount.value == 0" file "dbus-message.c" line 672 function dbus_message_cache_or_finalize
Its really hard to understand this bug without debug info.
Dear reporters, could somebody please help fixing this by installing some debugging packages [1], start as normal, and try to reproduce the crash, if possible? Once bug-buddy pops up, you can find the stacktrace in the 'Details', now containing way more information. Please copy that stacktrace and paste it as a comment here. Thanks in advance! [1] Please install debug packages for nautilus, glib2, gtk2, gnome-vfs2, and dbus (if available). On Ubuntu: nautilus-dbg, libglib2.0-0-dbg, libgtk2.0-0-dbg, libgnomevfs2-0-dbg. On SuSE 10.2: nautilus-debuginfo, glib2-debuginfo, gtk2-debuginfo, gnome-vfs2-debuginfo, dbus-1-debuginfo, dbus-1-glib-debuginfo. Fedora Core 6: nautilus-debuginfo, glib2-debuginfo, gtk2-debuginfo, gnome-vfs2-debuginfo, dbus-debuginfo, dbus-glib-debuginfo. More details can be found here: http://live.gnome.org/GettingTraces

(In reply to comment #41) > From bug 374295, the dbus assert output is: > 2729: assertion failed "message->refcount.value == 0" file "dbus-message.c" > line 672 function dbus_message_cache_or_finalize > This looks like https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9164, which I should probably get around to nagging dbus people about. The patch attached to bug 369214 improves dbus disconnection handling in gnome-vfs, which also looks like it might be causing problems here.
