Can't seem to reproduce it with the debug packages (or without them for that matter). 

I have a feeling its related to the syntax-coloring and a particular version of a particular bug. But since it crashed I lost those changes and i've been updating that document since. 

Perhaps some of the duplicate-reporters can shed more light on this?

Simple recipe for Ubuntu Edgy:

# apt-get install libgnomevfs2-0-dbg libgtk2.0-0-dbg libglib2.0-0-dbg

and

# echo "deb http://people.ubuntu.com/~pitti/ddebs edgy main universe" >>/etc/apt/sources/list
# apt-get update
# apt-get install gedit-dbgsym

I confirm the crash can be reproduced as explained by Paweł in bug #408355.

The following warning is printed on the console:

I'm using gtk+ 2.10.6.

To reproduce this crash follows these steps:

1. Run: 
   $ gedit --encoding=ISO-8859-2 "http://bugzilla.gnome.org/attachment.cgi?id=82623&action=view"

2. Ope the replace dialog and replace all occurrences of "<hr size="1">" with ""

3. Press "undo".
