I noticed that all spaces are stripped from account names when importing a MSMoney QIF file into GnuCash. 

Is there a preference somewhere to alter this behavior? I would rather have GnuCash default to not strip spaces.

Yes, that's a bug. Sorry for that. Already fixed in SVN, see the other bug. Will be fixed in 2.0.1.
