Please describe the problem: In the exchange account , a folder that is not marked for offline operation , is displayed when you go offline and try to view its contsnts. Steps to reproduce: 1.right click on an exchange account folder , and mark for offline use. 2. Now go offline , try viewing the contents of the folder . Later , unmark the "mark for offline" box 3. Go online , again go offline. try viewing the contents of the folder in question Actual results: The contents of the folder are displayed Expected results: the contents of the folder should not be displayed Does this happen every time? Yes Other information:
Reproducible in my machine as well.
vandana, is this specific to mail folders or book/cal folders also?
This is happening with imap folders too. Moving this to evolution...

So, even if you go online and remove the "mark for offline" option, those messages will be accessible in offline. > > Expected results: > the contents of the folder should not be displayed > IMO, the contents of the "new messages" in the folder that are received after removing "mark for offline" option, shouldn't be displayed. @Vandana: Can you verify whether ^^^ happens? If so, I would mark this bug as NOT A BUG.
Even after removing "mark for offline" option, the messages that are received get displayed in offline mode...
Bumping version to a stable release.
NotABug, from my point of view. Even you do not have downloaded whole folder, you can access at least messages you already viewed, rather than see all or nothing. I believe that's a plus. The option in account preferences (or on the folder itself) is there to predownload messages for offline, not to disable folder in offline completely. Also, in IMAP, the folder records changes and applies them when you go online, thus you can add new messages into any IMAP folder in offline, and when you connect to the server the message is uploaded as well.
