GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 312967
Trash property page icon bug
Last modified: 2005-08-12 22:08:52 UTC
Please describe the problem: When you open the dekstop's Trash icon's property page, you'll see the usual, and an icon on the top left. If you drag an icon to the default trash icon, it changes it, but there is no way of removing the new icon and going back to the default theme. You can drag something over it, yes, but it won't display the usual trash empty/full icons. Steps to reproduce: 1. Click on trash icon, then Properties 2. Drag an icon to the icon holder on the top left. Actual results: Expected results: Does this happen every time? Other information: Never been able to change it, have searched through GCONF. This should not happen
Good catch! Thanks for your bug report.
Oh, and for resetting the icon you'll either have to remove ~/.nautilus/metafiles/x-nautilus-desktop\:%2F%2F%2F.xml or remove the custom_icon property from the <file name="trash" .../> tag in this file.
Thanks a lot, I could not have figured out that without your tip. I hope this gets fixed. Also, I do not know if this might affect other Property pages.
> I do not know if this might affect other Property pages. Marc: No it doesn't. The extra widgets for (re)setting the custom icons will only be displayed for single-file selections that don't contain the trash. The attached patch takes care that in this case one can't set a custom image through DnD.
You forgot to attach it :), check http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=313172 for more reports on Trash's issues.
> You forgot to attach it Doesn't matter really. It's committed. If you're interested in details, see [1]. [1] http://mail.gnome.org/archives/nautilus-list/2005-August/msg00122.html
