GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 300021
Should show information (type / freespace) for disk in drive
Last modified: 2009-07-29 10:46:01 UTC
It would be helpful to have the type of disk (cdr/cdrw/dvd etc) and the amount of freespace on the disk displayed on the main cd writer ui. It could then make the "Write disc" button insensitive if the disk in the drive does not have enough space on it. I raise this, as I was a bit confused as to whether it would just randomly attempt to write too much data to a disk, it was non-obvious that further checks are made after clicking the "Write Disc" button.
We don't know what drive or disk will be used until you select ""Write to Disc" so we can't show such information in the nautilus window. One thing we can show is how much space is being used already. Please see bug 111231 for that.
I don't understand what you mean, the user has selected the drive in the "Write disc to" drop-down. You could then list how much space is on the disk in that drive. I'm not talking about the nautilus window, I'm talking about the "Write to disc" window.

Confirming, it's quite important
nautilus-cd-burner has been replaced by Brasero in the GNOME 2.26 release. If your bug still applies to Brasero, please feel free to re-open the bug, and reassign it to brasero itself.
