Description Olly Stephens 2004-03-17 21:35:56 UTC
Description of Problem:

If a user's password contains a £ (GB pound sign), the connector setup
fails to authenticate him/her. Logging in using OWA from a web browser
  works no problem.  May also be a problem with other non-ascii characters;
  have not tested.

Steps to reproduce the problem:

  1. change your exchange (AD) password to one with a £ sign in
  2. try and setup an exchange account in evolution (or try and
     run ximian-connector-setup)

Actual Results:

  Fails to authenticate user.

Expected Results:

  Succesful authentication.

How often does this happen?

  Every time.

Additional Information:

Problem actually found in 1.4.6 but that isn't an option yet on this
  screen.

Changed version to 1.4.6 as it's now an available option

Bug #317601 states "_" in the password is also not working.

I'm experiencing this problem with an Exchange account where the password was '1hu.+Fxl'. This is running Evolution 2.8.1 under Ubuntu Edgy Eft. Please let me know if I should file this as a separate bug -- maybe the period character is special in a different way from the GB pound character?

This bug was reported against a version that is now not supported anymore. Could you please check if the problem that you reported here still happens with a recent version of Evolution (like 3.2 or 3.0) by reporting back? Thanks in advance!
Also note that the package "evolution-exchange" is deprecated nowadays. Similar functionality is now provided by "evolution-mapi" and "evolution-ews" packages.

Closing this bug report as no updated information has been provided.

Please reopen this bug if the problem still occurs with a newer version of Evolution (currently this means: preferably version 3.2.x) and provide the information that was asked for in the previous comment.

Again thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed for the version that you originally used when reporting this problem.
