Isn't this rather a nautilus error handling problem? seems to happen with ftp connections as well. On the other hand, I cannot reproduce this with Gnome 2.12.1 After cancelling a connetion attempt is says "Could not connect...". Can you check with a newer version, please?

The same issue happens for the "The identity of the remote computer XXX is unknown." warning message as well.
I can still reproduce this on Ubuntu Breezy (GNOME 2.12.1).
Though it looks like the symptoms have changed a bit from what's described in comment 1. The authentication window appears 4 times when I try to cancel it. When I press cancel the second time "Can't display location" pops up behind the third authentication window. I don't see "invalid action assiociated".
I don't see "invalid action assiociated" either. I do get "Can't display location" when I cancel, but no more windows.
Just to clear things up. "Can't display location" should also be nuked when one presses cancel? I mean, it's pretty obvious that the location can't be displayed when cancel is pressed in the authentication dialog. "Can't display location" doesn't provide the user with any useful information in this case so it's just "another annoying dialog one has to close for no good reason before one can get on with whatever one really is doing". ;) Maybe a new bug should be opened for this since that dialog seems to come from Nautilus... right? Is there a way to for nautilus to differentiate between when cancel is pressed in the authentication dialog and other errors?
Martin, I agree. Hitting "Cancel" inherits ".. and leave me alone." :)
This was finally fixed some time ago :). The latest stable releases should have it, ditto for the GNOME 2.13.
