It crashes like this each time i try (i've tried 3 times) /dev/md0 1950784 288364 1662420 15% / /dev/hda2 77120 17116 60004 23% /boot /dev/md1 14610048 1803776 12806272 13% /var /dev/md2 14610048 3056564 11553484 21% /usr /dev/md3 2400576 2740 2397836 1% /tmp /dev/md4 190784640 53482588 137302052 29% /home 192.168.0.47:/store 96421300 70353560 26067740 73% /mnt/store 192.168.0.1:/home 33687252 24403980 9283272 73% /mnt/saturn Debugging Information: Backtrace was generated from '/usr/bin/gnumeric' (no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found)...[New Thread 1090933248 (LWP 19823)] (no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found)...0x40a8330e in __waitpid_nocancel () from /lib/tls/libpthread.so.0

What gnumeric version? (I am pretty sure something related to this was fixed a while ago.)
It is happenning in 1.2.5 from Debian Unstable.
In 1.2.5, it ought to work. I wonder why the crash seems to be in gail code, though. (For the record, it works fine for me.)
gail crashes almost instantaneously for me, but not gnumeric. Try disabling accessibility.
Jody, Do you have a stack trace for the gial crashes you refer to? I have reproduced a crash although the stack trace is slightly different from that reported in this bug report.
