Description kms 2003-12-04 11:34:04 UTC
I've heard that GIMP 2.0 will include conversion between RGB and CMYK
colour schemes. It'd be great to have some advaned but useful for dtp
options: Black Ink Limit and Total Ink Limit.

You heard wrong but I will assign your bug-report to the feature
request that deals with this issue.

Comment 2 Daniel Rogers 2003-12-04 15:34:35 UTC
Is this a cms thing, or should we just limit the values of C, M, Y, and K?
Comment 3 kms 2003-12-05 09:59:27 UTC
I mean CMYK values or, to be more exact, controlling the density of
colours rather by K value than CMY together.
Comment 4 Sven Neumann 2003-12-05 10:12:11 UTC
gimp_rgb_to_cmyk() allows to specify the amount of black to be pulled
out. Is that what you are asking for?

Comment 5 kms 2003-12-05 11:01:51 UTC
Probably yes. But on the other hand we must remember about proper
conversion of colours from RGB to CMYK and I'm not sure it can be
done without color profiles.
Comment 6 Sven Neumann 2003-12-05 11:21:19 UTC
It surely can't be done w/o profiles but these functions are just a
first step encouraging people to improve the CMYK functionality.
Comment 7 kms 2003-12-05 11:56:34 UTC
Of course, things go to right direction. GIMP is so powerful tool
and I think DTP features are next unavoidable step for it.
