GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 105345
accented characters are broken in reports in UTF-8 locales
Last modified: 2018-06-29 20:27:40 UTC
In UTF-8 locales, if account names have accented characters, they are displayed incorrectly in the graphical and text reports.
Part of this is simply the same problem as bug#84604 which cannot be fixed in GnuCash. If you have problems with the text reports, too, then please describe the necessary steps to reproduce the problem here in detail. LANG setting, actual characters, actual report, maybe with sample GnuCash data file. Thanks a lot.
Created attachment 14256 [details] Testcase that contains account names with swedish characters in UTF-8.
I have problems with the text reports too. The following steps reproduce the problem. 1. Execute GnuCash in an UTF-8 locale: LANG=en_GB.UTF-8 gnucash 2. Open the attatched example: utf-8-problem.cash (attachment id=14256) 3. In the "Account Summary" both account names are wrong. They should be "Tillgångar" and "Lön". 4. The same problem appears when the report is exported in html.
I'm just going through some old bugs--since mikma@users.sourceforge.net has provided the requested information, I'm reopening.
Development on the 1.8.x branch has halted now. The current development is progressing based on gtk2/gnome2 in SVN http://gnomesupport.org/wiki/index.php/GnuCashSvn . These problems in the supporting libraries will therefore be fixed in the upcoming gnucash-2.x release series.
