Description Luciano 2003-01-18 17:23:08 UTC
Package: gthumb
Severity: normal
Version: 1.107
Synopsis: Selection lost when switching back and forth from folder to catalog view.
Bugzilla-Product: gthumb
Bugzilla-Component: general

Description:
Description of Problem:
Last selected thumbnail does not show as selected any more after
switching from folder view to catalog view. Also if one selects a
thumbnail in the catalog view, and switch to folder view the same bug
appears.

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Go to folder view + thumbnails
2. Select a thumbnail
3. switch to catalog view.
4. switch to folder view.
Same thing exchanging the role of folder view and catalog view.

Actual Results:
Coming back to the view where the thumbail was selected does not show
the selection any more. Also the Image view still shows the last
selected image: this would be ok if the selection is still active.

Expected Results:
Assuming only one selection set can be defined for both views (folder
and catalog), if the user does not change the selection the state should
stay consistent when switching views. This is also related bug 103819
for the "Create Indexed Image" tool that should act on the current
selection independently of the view.

How often does this happen?
Consistently.

The bug is still there in 2.3.0.
Changing severity to minor.

There is something a little flaky here in v2.9.1, still.

If you select (for example) image #3 in folder view, and switch to a catalog view, image #3 in the catalog will be selected (assuming there is a #3 in catalog view).

If you switch from catalog view back to folder view, the selection is always lost.

I think the Catalog>Folder transition is correctly resetting the selection, but the Folder>Catalog transition is not.
