Description Christian Fredrik Kalager Schaller 2002-10-27 19:00:59 UTC
In GNOME 1 we had the cool feature of having the desktop background image
viewable in
the deskguide applet. This patch by Alex Duggan brings it back. It
currently implementes it using an environment variable, but I guess it
would be better to do it as a gconf key?

Would you rather have a patch that do it as a gconf key, but which adds
gconf dependency to
libwnck?

If it was a gconf key, what you would do is add a function
wnck_pager_set_thumbnail_background() and then the gconf key would
be in the panel applet. That's probably the right approach.

The reason it isn't on by default is mostly that it was deemed not
useful unless we have different backgrounds for each workspace.
So it might be nice to add that, and maybe even the UI for doing
per-workspace background involves the pager.

Ok, Alex is looking into it :)
Comment 4 Alex Duggan 2003-01-09 05:43:11 UTC
Changing keyword to GNOMEVER2.3 and reassigning back to hp
Comment 5 Havoc Pennington 2003-07-28 18:44:45 UTC
Dropping PATCH since the patch doesn't do what we want to do
(see earlier comments)

Moving to right component. Sorry for the spam.
Comment 7 Christian Fredrik Kalager Schaller 2011-05-20 09:48:10 UTC
Don't think this is to relevant anymore with GNOME 3, so closing my report as obsolete.
