cmurtaugh@yahoo.com (Colin Murtaugh) also submitted bug #96914
immediately before submitting this one, about the same problem
(nautilus 2.0.7 crashes immediately on startup). This has a different
stack trace, but it might be showing what happens after the #96914
crash when you immediately try it again. I don't know if this is
useful or not, but thought I'd point it out. Is it helpful?

Comment 2 Aschwin van der Woude 2002-11-02 08:56:05 UTC
Also bugs #97031, #97050, #97075 have a similar description but a
different stacktrace. They are all of pretty similar releases.
Comment 3 Luis Villa 2002-11-11 20:21:05 UTC
Colin: are you seeing this on logins that aren't affected by other
crashes? Is it still repeatable? Also, what version of gnome-vfs do
you have installed?
Comment 4 Colin Murtaugh 2002-11-13 13:35:19 UTC
I backed off to an earlier version to get a stable desktop back, but
if I have time today I can give it another try.
Comment 5 Colin Murtaugh 2002-11-13 15:02:09 UTC
I just updated to the latest snaps on my 7.2 machine and I'm still
seeing the problem with Nautilus. I've got gnome-vfs-1.0.5-4.ximian.5
installed.
I get the Nautilus problem both with my own login, and with a
brand-new login.
Comment 6 Colin Murtaugh 2002-11-13 15:09:10 UTC
Should have mentioned that I also have
gnome-vfs2-2.0.4.0.200210290744-0.snap.ximian.1 installed.

Comment 8 David Kennedy 2002-12-10 03:27:42 UTC
100782 is in 2.0.7 as well
Comment 9 Aschwin van der Woude 2003-01-05 10:41:59 UTC
reopening this bug
Comment 10 Alexander Larsson 2003-02-07 12:04:25 UTC
This should be fixed in 2.1.0. I'm pretty sure this checkin fixed it:
2002-09-04  Dave Camp  <dave@ximian.com>

	* libnautilus-private/nautilus-trash-directory.c: (add_volume):
	Don't start a search for a trash directory if one is already
	running.

Only repopen this bug if you can reproduce it with >= 2.2.0

The most recent duplicate was in version 2.2.1. Updating the version
information and reopening.

Comment 14 Elijah Newren 2003-06-13 03:37:44 UTC
The most recent duplicate was in nautilus 2.3.4 and contained some
debugging symbols (for about half the functions...) Setting
version->2.3.x, and updating GNOMEVER2.0->GNOMEVER2.3

Comment 19 Toni Willberg 2003-09-28 11:40:04 UTC
bug 123396 is from nautilus-2.4.0-3.

Should be reopened, but I have not enough mana. :)
Comment 20 Elijah Newren 2003-09-28 15:55:22 UTC
I hesitate to reopen this because I'm not so sure the last two bugs
marked as duplicates really are duplicates. The stack traces do look
similar, but not similar enough that I'd be confident in marking as
dups. But mwehner@tfh-berlin.de may be familiar with the nautilus &
gnome-vfs code (and I'm not).

It also seems unclear to me whether the reporters of those two bugs
were merely using nautilus 2.4.0 with an old gnome-vfs or if they were
using a newer gnome-vfs as well.

Anyone want to comment?

Comment 22 mwehner 2003-09-29 13:02:58 UTC
Yes, I'm sure this one is fixed in gnome-vfs cvs (but not in 2.4.0).

Here's the Changelog entry for the fix:

2003-09-17  Alexander Larsson  <alexl@redhat.com>
  * libgnomevfs/gnome-vfs-async-job-map.c
(_gnome_vfs_async_job_map_get_job):
    Don't assert async_job_map != NULL.
    Patch from Martin Wehner <martin.wehner@epost.de>

For a detailed description of the problem see:
http://mail.gnome.org/archives/nautilus-list/2003-September/msg00155.html

I'm adding the GNOMEVER2.4 keyword, setting version->2.4.x and closing
it again.
