Description Alan Horkan 2002-10-25 19:40:29 UTC
I was thinking that as Dia .shape files are a very small and simple subset
that we should try and encourage open source vector graphics project such
as Sodipodi Sketch and any other projects that already have SVG support to
expand it to allow export and or import of Dia .shape files.

To support Dia .shape file only requires very basic SVG support.
On import connection points can be ignored unless the program supports them
and on export connection points can be ignored or simply be automatically
added on corners and line ending and perhaps the midpoint of the shape.

This is a tracker report and will include links to feature requests for Dia
.shape support in other applications.

It would probably be more productive to improve the Dia .shape export.

Basically the feedback i go from other projects was that if i wanted
it i would have to add it myself.

Inkscape has made some progress towards supporting the Dia file format
indirectly using another program that I have not had the chance to try out yet

better SVG import would be more useful

Evangelism IMO does not belong to bugzilla and the links don't at something useful anymore.
