Description Joachim Breitner 2002-09-10 17:18:54 UTC
If I run a script over the right-click menu on a file that is on a nfs
partition, it just doesn't get executed. No message or anything.

My assumption on the reasons is that nautilus considers files on nfs mounts
as remote and therefore does not run scripts on them (which would make
sense when using a remote source via gnome-vfs like ftp). But since nfs are
mounted transparently, there is no technical problem.

Furthermore I think moutned nfs trees should be considered local, or at
least there should be an option to set them local. I am planing on moving
my data on a server and share them over nfs, but that would render my
nautilus-scripts useless. And if nfs would be local I can make nautilus
show thumbnails on nfs mounts but not on ftp:// urls.

<sigh> is_local and nfs are still a mess :/
Comment 2 Mikael Hallendal 2002-11-04 12:44:20 UTC
The script does get executed but the $* is not set when executing
against a file on NFS.

Anyone interested in giving me any pointers where to find this bug and
I can try to locate it and come up with a patch.
Comment 3 Sebastien Bacher 2005-01-22 22:31:27 UTC
is that still an issue ?
Comment 4 Benjamin Kellermann 2006-02-04 20:47:39 UTC
Yes, this bug still exists and is very annoying. As Mikael said, if you execute a script on an nfs mounted Partition the parameters $1 $2 $3 ... (or $@) are not set but I don't know where to find it ;)
Comment 5 André Klapper 2006-07-04 09:50:25 UTC
reopening as per last comment.
Comment 6 Tobias Mueller 2009-06-15 20:15:47 UTC
Benjamin, could you please try with a more recent GNOME? Bug 502987 had a similar issue and it can't be reproduced with 2.26 :)
Comment 7 Benjamin Kellermann 2009-06-16 21:10:03 UTC
Didn't used nautilus-scripts for a while since nautilus-actions are more handy but it seems to work now with a test script (with 2.26.1)…
Comment 8 Cosimo Cecchi 2009-11-02 18:11:29 UTC
Ok, this is fixed then.
