GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 91787
Submenus can cover higher level menus making navigation impossible
Last modified: 2009-08-15 18:40:50 UTC
Description of Problem: If a particular submenu in the applications menu is too wide, it can cover its parent submenu completely, blocking access to its sibling submenus. A particular example of this is my installation of Mandrake 9.0 beta4, polish language settings, 800X600 resolution, where the Configuration->Printing submenu is the first submenu in Configuration, and it is so tall and wide that it blocks access to submenus that follow it. Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. install Mandrake 9.0 beta4 2. choose polish language for system usage 3. configure X to run in 800X600 4. login into Gnome, open the menu at the top bar: Mandrake->Konfiguracja->Drukowanie Actual Results: See the screenshot at http://olo.office.altkom.com.pl/domowa/qa/mandrake/beta4/usage/Gnome2.0/Screenshot-Printing_menu_covers_parent_menus_and_blocks_navigation.png . The "Drukowanie" ("Printing") submenu blocks all other submenus. Expected Results: Submenus should be aligned in a more intelligent manner, possibly reduced in size but scrolled, when they cannot fit on screen without blocking something. How often does this happen? Additional Information:
404 on the screenshot. Don't full understand what you're saying either ... Could you reload the screenshot? You can attach it to this bug.
With Polish menu in Mandrake 9.0, always. Depends on what the distributor has put into the menu and what screen resolution is used (bigger desktop -> smaller probability of things getting messed up)
Aleksander: please attach the screenshot to this bug if this is still happening.
Alexsander: Are you still there? Can you attach the screenshot here in bugzilla (or give us a link that isn't broken)?
No response. Closing bug.
