Description Mamatha 2002-08-19 12:53:51 UTC
Tested on Sun's Gnome 2.0 Beta 2 Build 3 version on a Solaris 9 Sparc
machine.

Reviewed 'System Log ' manual ver 2.2 and found the following mismatch
between the explanation in the online help manual and the actual GUI.

1) Section 2. Getting Started
Figure 1 shows an older version screenshot.

2) Section 3.1: To View a Log File

a) Log->Open
Shown in the app as: File->Open

b) Log->Switch Log.
Shown in the app as: File -> Switch Log

3) Section 3.3: To Monitor Log Files
Log->Monitor
Shown in the app as: File->Monitor

4) Section 3.5: To View Log File Properties

a) To view the properties of the log file, choose Log->Properties.
Shown in the app as: File->Properties

b) Select the log file that you want to monitor in the left pane of
the 'Monitor options' dialog.
Shown in the app as: 'Choose logs to monitor'

6) Section 3.5.: To View Log File Properties
To view the properties of the log file, choose Log->Properties. The Log
stats dialog displays the following information

The manual shows the following options :
Full path name and filename.
Size of the file in bytes.
Date the file was last modified.
Date the file was created.
Date of the most recent log entry.
Number of lines in the file.

The System Log app shows:

Last Date:
Number of Lines:

7) Section 3.6: To Close a Log File
Log->Close
Shown in the app as: File->Close

Please make sure you cc the relevant doc guys.
Comment 2 Glynn Foster 2002-09-06 13:13:03 UTC
Updates on this? I assume already fixed? Sun doc guys don't look at
bugzilla all to often, almost better off just emailing them directly.
Comment 3 irene.ryan 2002-09-06 14:17:06 UTC
No, these changes are not made. I didn't see this bug until now. I
also didn't know that the System Log UI had changed. I will update the
manual asap.

Tested with sun beta 2 build 6 package. Source taken from gnome-2-0
branch dated "Tue Aug 27 14:57:39 BST 2002".
Still I am able to see the same.
