Description Nils Pedersen 2002-07-31 21:04:26 UTC
Nautilus should provide proactive notification if no viewer/application
installed for a given known file type. A similar label to read only would
be nice. If you want I will provide the icon.

Nautilus should only look in GNOME's current path (ie nothing fancy) for
the binary names to determin if a viewer/application is available.

Should this actually be filed against vfs, naut-maint?
Comment 2 Abel Cheung 2003-08-08 01:10:41 UTC
Remove string keyword. Yes, it looks like gnome-vfs is a better place
to discuss this.

Is that still an issue ? What do you want to change exactly ? The icons
rendering ? The way to open a document ?
Comment 4 Calum Benson 2005-03-04 17:52:38 UTC
I think Nils (who doesn't work on GNOME any more btw, so probably isn't reading
bug reports any more either) was just suggesting that an emblem be placed on
document icons for which no default viewer was currently defined.

To that extent it's still valid, but personally I'm not sure it's a big deal, as
you'll find out when you try to open the file-- and if you need to open it, you
won't have any choice but to pick a viewer for it anyway...

Info provided, reopening. Please close if you feel this feature isn't really needed.
Comment 6 Christian Neumair 2006-01-07 12:08:11 UTC
Resolving as WONTFIX. Calum explained what this is all about, and I don't think we'll do that. Thanks for your help Yaron.
