GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 87119
Add a way to configure keybindings to open a new tab/window with a given profile
Last modified: 2021-06-10 14:37:16 UTC
It would be nice that you would have the choice of configuring more keybindings, like, if you want to create another tab o window that's not the default profile, you can do it with a keybinding. Also note that if you try to go to the menus with the keyboard, if one of the elements are disabled (shaded) it's not possible to go "down" to the nexts. This seems to be a gtk2 bug.
(The insensitive menu thing was indeed a gtk issue, since fixed iirc)

I would like to see this too. I can't make use of the profiles feature very well because it's too clumsy trying to open a different one. I tend to open new terminal tabs via ctrl+shift+t, so if I could have a similar shortcut that just asked me which profile to use for the new tab that'd be awesome. What if we use ctrl+atl+tab or ctrl+shift+alt+tab? I'd just expect a small dialog to appear (and steal focus) offering a list of profiles. Since the list can grow un-bounded, the list may want to be in a combo box? It would be extra nice if I can use exactly two keystrokes to open the profile of my choice. I.e. press ctrl+alt+tab (or whatever) to open the profile list, then ctrl+1 (or whatever) to select the first one on the list. It might only work for my first 9 profiles, but that will be more than enough for most people I suspect.
