GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 86598
Install new fonts through the font dialog
Last modified: 2010-11-04 09:17:20 UTC
ok not sure if this is technically possible. But it would be nice if users could install new fonts through the font capplet. These would of course be per user fonts.
You should take a look at porting the GNOME Setup Tools Font Tool :)
this should be pretty trivial with font config right...setting target to 2.2 but feel free to adjust...
SPAM as discussed last night. Search for 'SPAM as discussed last night' to catch these all and delete them. :)
Clearing target milestone, since it's for the exclusive use of module maintainers.

Isn't this covered by the "Go to font folder" button (and fontilus?)

The fonts can be accessed at the moment with fonts:// in Nautilus, however i'm not sure where this is exposed in the UI. Owen mentions something previously about a "Go to font folder." Where is this, has this button disappeared? Bumping the version to 2.17.x
"Go to font folder" is available in the Font Render Details windows of the font control capplet.
The "Go to font folder" button is no longer available in the Font capplet. Nor is fonts:// available in gnome 2.22. (the docs for 2.22 suggest that both of these options are available).

-> gnome-utils gnome-font-viewer has now moved to gnome-utils, reassigning. It seems anyway, this is possible with the "Install" button in gnome-font-viewer (which could be improved, but it's already covered by other bug reports). Closing as OBSOLETE.
