Description Frederic Crozat 2002-06-17 14:05:14 UTC
When logged as root, since xscreensaver is disabled, it is not possible to
lock root display.

Patch attached to add support for xlockmore when logged as root

Anyone want to review this?

Upping priority on this.
Comment 4 Kjartan Maraas 2004-04-15 22:04:29 UTC
Do we want this for 2.6.x or punt to 2.7.x?
Comment 5 Kjartan Maraas 2004-04-29 17:44:04 UTC
Mark, is this something we'd want to include?
Comment 6 Mark McLoughlin 2004-05-13 11:55:18 UTC
I've never figured that out for sure - it seems really broken to use one
screensaver when logged in as root and a different one when logged in as anyone
else, though.
Comment 7 Frederic Crozat 2004-05-13 12:24:51 UTC
Well, my point here is :
even if we know it is stupid to log as root, we should still be able to lock the
display when we are logged as root (I think it is a far more important feature
as root compared to a simple user). Even if it is not the same screensaver, at
least, display is locked..

Tell that to jwz ... not me :-)

Closing this as WONTFIX - if root should be able to lock the screen, then this
patch is merely a workaround for an xscreensaver bug.

(Yes, I do know about http://www.jwz.org/xscreensaver/faq.html#root-lock ...)
