Description Christian Fredrik Kalager Schaller 2002-05-20 11:56:18 UTC
Adding the patch from Jorn Baayen to CVS. This patch togheter with patches
in bugs (82340 and 82341) moves GNOME2 from using esound to using
monkey-media(gstreamer). Gives GNOME 2 sound server independce and improved
media support.

SPAM as discussed last night. Search for 'SPAM as discussed last night' to catch
these all and delete them. :)
Comment 3 Andrew Sobala 2002-11-08 20:04:09 UTC
Should this be in for 2.2.0, anyone?
Comment 4 Kjartan Maraas 2003-02-03 21:18:38 UTC
Does this still work with the later monkey-media?
Comment 5 Rodney Dawes 2003-02-03 22:47:17 UTC
Please don't make libgnome depend on monkey-media. It will mean adding a
lot of unnecessary deps to gnome just to play sound events. If there
were a patch to just straight-off use gstreamer or always use MAS/ESD,
it would be much better. We should definately do something about the
whole sound daemon/events/etc... thing though for 2.4. This should
probably be re-targetted toward 2.3/4 now.
Comment 6 Kjartan Maraas 2003-04-29 22:25:53 UTC
What's going to happen to this stuff?
Comment 7 Stephane Loeuillet 2004-03-31 08:14:14 UTC
well, still using esound but also uses gstreamer for other stuff

could this one be closes (gstreamer API changed so much since the bug was open
that patches should be un-applicable)

control-center patch

Monkey media has been moved into rhythmbox and we definitely don't want gnomecc
to depend on that. This needs to be rethought I guess.
Comment 9 Fabio Bonelli 2004-04-20 08:34:38 UTC
What about using just GStreamer? I can work on a patch in that case.
Comment 10 Christian Kirbach 2005-03-28 14:18:06 UTC
any news on this?
Comment 11 Alexey Rusakov 2006-11-24 00:42:18 UTC
Let me be the next questioning...
Any news?
Comment 12 Jens Granseuer 2007-01-31 20:49:39 UTC
I think we can safely call this obsolete now. New GNOME sound API is under construction, we'll see how that goes.
