GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 81640
gWeather will not pick up http proxy
Last modified: 2009-08-15 18:40:50 UTC
I'm setting the http proxy via the Network capplet and gweather is not picking up the proxy so does not work.
You may need to update gnome-vfs. The preference keys for the proxy settings has changed recently so older versions of gnome-vfs won't recognize changes made by the capplet. Shane: what version gnome-vfs do you have?
Marking 2.0.0 because this is a pretty central piece of the architecture, but... also NEEDINFO.
Hiya Kevin, Got version 1.9.15 of gnome-vfs - taken from cvs on "Mon May 13 03:38:38 BST 2002".
Well it's not gweather's fault so I'm moving this to gnome-control-center (though it may be a gnome-vfs issue). Shane: also what version gnome-control-center are you using? Maybe that needs upgrading.
Also reassigning to cc-maint; jacob, may be a solaris-specific issue so cc'ing you.
i will be very surprised if this is solaris specific.
using gnome control center source from cvs taken on 13th may - not what version this is:/
it's definitely working for me. if i edit the capplet to set the proxy to a non-existant proxy, then update in gweather, it fails to update (like it should). changing it back and updating again gives the right settings. if there are bugs in the actualy proxy code, they should go in gnome-vfs. verified on solaris and linux.
ok - i've re-opened this bug because it is still present on solaris 8 & 9 with source taken from last night (21st may). Luis: is this ok? does this need to be re-assigned? I set the proxy with the Network capplet and gweather will not update - this is same on a different machine running soure from 21st may and solaris 9. I also set the proxy using gconf-editor and still gweather will not pick up the proxy. proxy is set in "$HOME/.gconf/system/gnome-vfs/%gconf.xml" Note: After setting the proxy I was able to browse the web using Nautilus so the problem seems to lie with gWeather.
closing this bug cause I got it wrong (sorry) - i think there must be a time delay before the proxy setting is picked up casue i just noticed that gweather is working fine now.
