Description Gustavo Carneiro 2002-05-01 13:42:45 UTC
There seems to be an overall paranoia about protecting everything. The
GnomeAbout now has no public fields, only private data! I can understand
that up to some point, but really lacks flexibility now.
I wanted to include a section for "Artwork" in the credits. The patch
attached to this bug report adds support for custom pages in the credits
window. I really hope you decide to include it.

Comment 2 Anders Carlsson 2002-05-01 14:00:26 UTC
This patch looks good, however it can't go into 2.0 because we have an
API freeze. I'll reconsider for 2.2 though.
Comment 3 Kjartan Maraas 2003-05-18 19:40:43 UTC
Or 2.4.x?
Comment 4 David Bolter 2003-07-28 18:51:29 UTC
I'd really like to add a "Thanks" page to the about box for GOK. Is
there anything holding this up?
Comment 5 David Bolter 2003-08-08 19:22:47 UTC
I don't see how adding functionality breaks the API, can't this patch
go in soon?
Comment 6 Mark McLoughlin 2003-08-12 10:25:09 UTC
David: it adds API. There's an API freeze, so this must now be punted
to 2.6.x.
Comment 7 David Bolter 2003-11-17 14:00:35 UTC
Any progress on this? I want to know before I commit a self-made
about box for another application.
Comment 8 Gustavo Carneiro 2003-11-17 14:24:41 UTC
It should be mentioned that there is an ongoing effort to port this
widget into Gtk+ itself, in bug #80468. However, I personally don't
like it, because it also puts arbitrary restrictions into the widget,
just like current GnomeAbout. Besides, it seems it will have to wait
until gtk+ 2.6.
Comment 9 Gustavo Carneiro 2003-11-17 14:25:42 UTC
  Oops, I meant bug #109435. :-/
Comment 10 Anders Carlsson 2004-05-02 12:25:19 UTC
I don't like this patch; it adds _too_ much flexibility. Furthermore, I consider
GnomeAbout to be in maintenance mode only, and when we get GtkAboutDialog in
gtk+ 2.6, I'm going to deprecate GnomeAbout
