Description Matthias Clasen 2002-04-19 23:32:41 UTC
This is an item from the now-gone TODO file.

I think there even was a de-gnomified version of the Gnome canvas once
(GtkCanvas ?).
Comment 1 Kristian Rietveld 2002-04-19 23:39:18 UTC
That's the foocanvas module in gnomecvs.
Comment 2 Matthias Clasen 2004-12-23 04:15:51 UTC
any canvas work should probably wait until we have the cairo integration done
Comment 3 Matthias Clasen 2005-12-17 20:15:02 UTC
The most likely candidate for this is Damons work on goocanvas,

What is the recent progress? Is there any roadmap? I would like to help, but I didn't receive any reply about this e-mail: http://mail.gnome.org/archives/gtk-devel-list/2007-September/msg00040.html

See http://live.gnome.org/ProjectRidley/CanvasOverview

This page tries to collect highlights and drawbacks for the most known canvases around, plus some other information that hopefully will be useful to determine a sensible feature set and the best candidates to fill the canvas gap in GTK+.
Comment 6 Matthias Clasen 2015-02-16 14:31:22 UTC
things have moved on considerable since this was filed, and I don't think it makes sense to keep this bug open
