Description Allan Day 2016-12-08 11:32:25 UTC
There have been occasions in the past when I've disabled notification banners - like during a meeting, when I don't want to be disturbed - and then forgotten about them being disabled. It would be really helpful if the notification list provided a reminder that banners have been disabled.

One way to do this would be a simple string at the top - "Notification banners have been turned off", with a "Turn On" button alongside.

What about the list containing notifications from apps for which banners have been disabled? It's buried deeper in the settings, so maybe that's not really an issue?

Also bug 749295 is related, as it would cover the meeting use case without having to change the banner setting ...

bug 751369 is also related, as the "banner" setting isn't easily understood.

GNOME is going to shut down bugzilla.gnome.org in favor of gitlab.gnome.org.
As part of that, we are mass-closing older open tickets in bugzilla.gnome.org
which have not seen updates for a longer time (resources are unfortunately
quite limited so not every ticket can get handled).

If you can still reproduce the situation described in this ticket in a recent
and supported software version, then please follow
  https://wiki.gnome.org/GettingInTouch/BugReportingGuidelines
and create a new ticket at
  https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-shell/-/issues/

Thank you for your understanding and your help.
