Description Jeremy Bicha 2016-05-28 14:23:10 UTC
The Cookbook bundled with Clutter is not licensed under an open source (or free software) license.

This commit relicensed it as CC-BY-NC-SA 2.0

https://git.gnome.org/browse/clutter/commit/?id=54aa553d0f691268346657fd661450ed9bf8845a

That license fails criteria 6 of the Open Source Definition:

https://opensource.org/docs/definition.php

and the Debian Free Software Guidelines:

https://www.debian.org/social_contract#guidelines

Please remove the cookbook from your releases or re-license it under an open source or free software license.

I've already contacted the co-author of the cookbook, but since we were both working at Intel at the time, it's likely we'll have to deal with some official re-licensing.

In the meantime, Debian can avoid adding the cookbook to their docs packages, since if conflicts with the Debian guidelines.
Comment 2 André Klapper 2021-06-10 11:34:28 UTC
GNOME is going to shut down bugzilla.gnome.org in favor of gitlab.gnome.org.
As part of that, we are mass-closing older open tickets in bugzilla.gnome.org
which have not seen updates for a longer time (resources are unfortunately
quite limited so not every ticket can get handled).

If you can still reproduce the situation described in this ticket in a recent
and supported software version of clutter, then please follow
  https://wiki.gnome.org/GettingInTouch/BugReportingGuidelines
and create a ticket at
  https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/clutter/-/issues/

Thank you for your understanding and your help.
