Description Matthias Clasen 2016-03-07 17:49:21 UTC
Typing a URL does not quite cut if for setting up a remote connection. There should be a dialog or wizard for creating new VNC (and RDP, etc) connections.
Comment 1 Matthias Clasen 2016-03-07 18:10:26 UTC
This needs design input, obviously.

for inspiration, here is what remmina shows when you want to create a new rdp connection.
Comment 6 Marc-Andre Lureau 2016-03-09 19:00:47 UTC
there is no more connection setup dialog when connecting to server in nautilus, if I am not mistaken, but Boxes need one?
Comment 7 Matthias Clasen 2016-03-09 20:37:30 UTC
Yes, I think so. I don't see what nautilus has to do with that.

> Yes, I think so. I don't see what nautilus has to do with that.

It strike as being a similar purpose ui: enter protocol, (username, password), host, port ...
Comment 9 Jakub Steiner 2017-01-11 11:02:35 UTC
I suggest we solve the protocol prefix discoverability the same way we did for Nautilus, with a popover legend in the entry.

Comment 10 Felipe Borges 2017-05-23 12:36:38 UTC
I would consider this to be solved since the current user has its own page for "Enter URL" -> which contains the label "Enter an address for the box you want to add. Addresses can be of installation images, SPICE and VNC servers, or oVirt or Libvirt brokers." and "Examples: http://download.com/image.iso, spice://somehost:5051, ovirt://host/path".

Feel free to reopen if that's not the case.
